“By having to come up with 60 plot points, I really had to think about my characters. What little hiccups could come along the way to mess things up? What biggies could rock their world?” ~ excerpt from Creating My Plot: Very Detailed to the Nitty-Gritty

“In the book, Chelsea and Clint vow to never live timidly, and to never take the cowards way out again. As a storyteller, Holly follows her characters advice. Her characters live and breathe, and in the end, become a part of you.” ~ Blurb from Spotlight Review: Holly Schinderl’s PLAYING HURT

“Writing can be so lonely—staring at a screen and a box all day, getting carpal tunnel and a stiff neck. We create imaginary friends every day and most of us talk to them. We need social interaction with others, and who better to understand our madness then a fellow writer?” ~ excerpt from Community Building

"Drafting the query and sending it out has to be one of the most talked about, most feared, and most important parts of the entire writing for traditional publication process. As the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a good impression, and with so many agents not even wanting a writing sample pasted along with your query, you really have to nail it in order to even have a chance at seeking their representation." ~ excerpt from The All Important Query

Giddy For Fireblood by Trisha Wolfe

So, for those of you don't know, I would suck without my awesome Critique Partners.

True Story.

And it's not just that they happen to be AMAZING Authors who challenge me to be better. And it's not only due to the constant cheerleading and encouragement and sanity they provide. No, I would suck without them because over the last two years, they have become my best friends. And when something awesome happens for them, I get even more excited than if it were happening for me.

And Trisha Wolfe? Yeah, she's one of my Critique Partners/Best Friends. She also happens to be a blog sister (YA Bound) and one of the few people who I know I can call at any time, about any thing, and she'll be there for me.

AND TODAY IS HER COVER REVEAL!!!!

I am so excited for you guys to read FIREBLOOD. When she first began sending me pages on this story, I knew it was going to be special. Trisha has this way of writing heroines that I care about and pull for--yet would be scared to death to meet in a dark alley if I was on their bad side LOL. And her men? ~fans self~ yeah, smoking.

Below, you'll find your first taste of this awesomeness of which I speak, and believe me, it is only gonna get better!

COME ON 2013!!!!

***Oh, and next year, the Flirt Squad will be hosting a month long challenge for this book, helping spread the word, earning swag, and getting exclusive excerpts!! Can't wait! ***

And now, for the REVEAL.......

Fireblood (Fireblood #1)

By Trisha Wolfe

Coming 2013 From Spencer Hill Press

To save a kingdom, Zara must choose between a prince who could be the answer and a rising rebellion that threatens to take control.

When Zara Dane is chosen to marry Prince Sebastian Hart, son of the man who ordered her father’s capture, Zara knows she must fight to save everything she loves from ruin.

Being betrothed to the prince means a life trapped behind the towering stone walls of the Camelot-forged realm. Under the watchful eye of the prince's first knight, Sir Devlan Capra, changing her future becomes difficult.

When an unlikely rebel reveals the truth about the deadly secrets that fuel King Hart’s twisted world, Zara’s path to rescue her father becomes clouded by deception. The Rebels clear her path by forcing Zara’s hand with an ultimatum: sway Prince Sebastian to join the Rebels, convincing him of his father’s evil nature, or they will take him out.

But Zara is uncertain about a future under the Rebels’ command and where the prince’s heart truly lies. She must decide who to trust, what to believe, and what she’s truly fighting for before the king destroys all of Karm, including her heart.

I'm so stoked about today's post. Kelly Hashway is a total sweetheart. She's my agency sister, my blog sister (#YABound), and I'm very proud to call her my friend. She has to be one of the hardest working authors I know....and she's just plain out made of awesome.

Stalked by Death

Series Touch of Death (#2)

Spencer Hill Press
ISBN: 978-1-937053-56-7

Coming July 23, 2013

Jodi knows that any slip-ups made by the Ophi--a special group of necromancers born under the 13th sign of the zodiac--will fall on her shoulders... and that Hades is just waiting for them to screw up so he can wipe out the Ophi line.

Unfortunately, Jodi has only convinced one Ophi to join her school: A hot guy named Chase who jeopardizes her relationship with Alex. Jodi loves Alex, but Chase can enhance her powers with just a touch-making her stronger than any Ophi has ever been.

Her mixed emotions send her powers surging out of control, and the dead start rising without her conscious summoning-exactly what Hades doesn't want!  If she chooses Alex over Chase, she may lose the battle to Hades, leading the Ophi race to extinction. If she chooses Chase, she might be able to stop Hades for good... but lose everything else.

Jodi needs to figure things out fast--because death is stalking her at every turn.

My Super Sweet Secret at YA Bound

For those of you who may not have seen the post at YA Bound yesterday, I have some very exciting news! My baby has gotten a facelift :)

Here's part of my original post copied from YA Bound:

As you may remember MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEENTH CENTURY had a cover reveal a couple months ago. And every single one of the bloggers involved were fantabulous. Y’all made that day so special and fun for me, and over the course of the day, I think I must’ve done at least a zillion happy dances. Complete with jazz hands :)

I didn’t think it could get better…

…I’ve never been happier to be proven wrong.

A few weeks ago, the awesome peeps at Entangled Teen surprised me with a gift in my inbox: a brand new, beyond gorgeous, I-must-pinch-myself-because-this-is-totally-what-I-imagined-when-I-wrote-the-manuscript COVER!

*Cue the Rachel jig of joy*

Y’all, I know my debut book (which hits bookstores September 11th) and I have already had our moment in the spotlight, and I couldn’t have asked for more support than what you’ve already given me. Seriously, you guys ROCK! But next Monday (the 21st), I’m gonna reveal the SUPER SWEET—ha, I just can’t seem to help myself!—new cover {there} at YA Bound, and I’ll be honored if anyone chooses to join me.

My girl Trish is helping me host this, so the sign ups are actually either via email (yaboundgirls at gmail dot com) or the comments over at THIS post. We just need your name, blog URL, and an email address to reach you, and we'll send everything you need this weekend! Along with the new prettiness, anyone who signs up will receive a brand new excerpt and a link to my book trailer to share!

Absolutely no worries if you are unable to participate....I totally get it! But, be sure to stop over at YA Bound next Monday to see the new cover, read an exclusive excerpt, and enter for a chance to win a slew of swaggy prizes!

Thanks everyone!!

Happy Book Birthday: UNDERWORLD by Meg Cabot

I LOVE birthdays...mine was last week and I am still celebrating :) And book birthdays are always full of excitement. There's just something about heading to my local bookstore on release day and getting it in my hands the day it comes out.

Today, I'm shining a spotlight on UNDERWORLD by Meg Cabot over at YA Bound. Here's a little taste of both the book and my review, as well as links to find out more.

Publication Date: May 8, 2012 by Point

Hardcover 336 pages

ABANDON BOOK 2

Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.

Seventeen-year-old Pierce Oliviera isn’t dead. Not this time.

But she is being held against her will in the dim, twilit world between heaven and hell, where the spirits of the deceased wait before embarking upon their final journey.

Her captor, John Hayden, claims it’s for her own safety. Because not all the departed are dear. Some are so unhappy with where they ended up after leaving the Underworld, they’ve come back as Furies, intent on vengeance…on the one who sent them there and on the one whom he loves.

But while Pierce might be safe from the Furies in the Underworld, far worse dangers could be lurking for her there…and they might have more to do with its ruler than with his enemies. And unless Pierce is careful, this time there’ll be no escape.

I love Greek mythology retellings, especially the various Hades and Persephone versions that have been so popular in the YA market the past year. ABANDON by Meg Cabot was one of my favorites so I was eager to see where she took her reimagining in the sequel, UNDERWORLD. And to be honest, I enjoyed this one even more than the first.

Swoon Thursday: Swooning Over Rich Boys by Jenny O'Connell

It's that time again! We created a HOT meme over at YA Bound, and if you're new to the game, here's how to join in the fun:

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering. Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog! We want to know :-)

Without further ado, here's mine:

I scored a fun find at my local Half-Price bookstore this past week, RICH BOYS by Jenny O'Connell. I've read and loved The Book of Luke and Plan B by her, so I knew this would be a fun treat...and I was right :)

Finally Jay pulled away, a look of surprise & delight on his face. "I wasn't sure you were going to let me do that"-RICH BOYS Swoon #YABound

I'm sorry, but that description--a look of surprise and delight on his face--just gets me totally. Can't you picture a total hottie staring at YOU that way???? :) Here's the extended bloggy version:

Jay brushed his fingers against my face, moving my hair back, and I found myself moving toward his touch until our lips were pressed together, his tongue gently parting mine, his hand moving to the skin on my neck and pulling me against him. And instead of moving away I slid across the seat until there was no space between us, because it felt amazing and wonderful and even though every muscle in my body ached I wanted to be near him. Finally, Jay pulled away, a look of surprise and delight on his face. "I wasn't sure you were going to let me do that."

For TARA, KELLY, and TRISH'S Swoons, head over to today's post at YA BOUND to check it out!

AND NOW IT'S YOUR TURN: In 140 characters . . . or, perhaps a bit more if you need to cheat LOL, SWOON us!
